Even before Akshay Kumar’s Laxmii starts streaming on November 9, it is already being talked about as the blockbuster of the year.
An Akshay Kumar starrer is a budgetary event and as the first Akshay film on the digital platform, Laxmii has a responsibility to the box office.
The title Laxmmi Bomb was truncated to Laxmii to appease sentiments.
One had heard that the producers were toying with the idea of a last minute name change for Akshay’s character.
In the film, he is called Asif and the heroine Kiara Advani is called Priya.
According to some right-wing elements, this amounts to a love-jihad relationship.
“Rather than risk it, they thought of doing some more appeasement, and change Akshay’s name,” a source tells Subhash K Jha.
But better sense prevailed and Akshay is still Asif in Laxmii.
