It appears that Rajkumar Hirani got Sushant Singh Rajput to agree to play a cameo in the Aamir Khan starrer PK on condition that he would play the lead in Hirani’s next movie.
“In 2014, when Raju made PK, he requested Sushant to do a cameo as Anushka Sharma’s love interest,” a source tells Subhash K Jha.
“Sushant was not too keen as the cameo had already been turned down by other A-listers. He politely asked Raju what he would have to do in a film that stars Aamir Khan. But Raju assured Sushant that his cameo in PK would make an impact.”
“He also assured Sushant that he would play the lead in his next film,” the source claims.

As it happened, Hirani’s next film was the Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju, and Raju signed Ranbir Kapoor for the part the minute the actor showed interest in it.
It was not the first nor the last time that Sushant was let down by a film-maker.
