New Delhi: The outbreak of the coronavirus is now visible in the Indian industry. According to the news agency PTI, the gems and jewelry business in the country is losing its shine due to the rising havoc of this deadly coronavirus. The demand for the jewelry industry has fallen by 75 percent due to increasing cases every day. Now only 20-25 percent of the business is being done across the country.

Chairman of All India Gem and Jewelry Domestic Council, Anant Padmanabhan has said, The number of customers in jewelry shops is steadily decreasing. In this atmosphere of fear, retailers are doing only 20-25 percent of the business. Anant Padmanabhan has said that due to the havoc of Coronavirus (COVID-19), there is an atmosphere of fear among the people. Along with this, the government has closed malls, theaters and other crowded places as a precaution. Now only basic goods are being purchased.

According to Tanya Rastogi, director of Lala Jugal Kishore Jewelers, the demand in the country’s gems and jewelry industry is mainly due to weddings. But due to the coronavirus, such events are being canceled. Due to this, wedding shopping has stopped.
