New Delhi: The Media Foundation has invited nominations for the 2019 edition of the Chameli Devi Jain Award.
The award is given annually to an outstanding woman mediaperson.
It was first given in 1982 and since then has named a woman journalist who has made a difference through her work. The awardees have been representatives of English, Hindi and vernacular media, from a cross-section of backgrounds.
Among the 52 recipients of the award till date are Neerja Chowdhury, Tavleen Singh, Priyanka Dubey, Barkha Dutt, Supriya Sharma and Khabri Baba‘s public editor Pamela Philipose.

Journalists in the print, digital, broadcast and current affairs documentary film media are eligible for the award, including photographers, cartoonists and newspaper designers.
A statement released by the Foundation highlights that the criteria for selection are “excellence, analytical skill, social concern, insights, style, innovation, courage and compassion.”
Nominations, complete with bio-data, samples of work done in the calendar year of 2019 and a brief note on why she is deserving of the award, should be sent to The Media Foundation, Flat No. 7, 32 Alipore Road, Civil Lines, Delhi – 110054 or emailed to chamelidevijainawards2019@gmail.com by February 28, 2020.
