Battle for Delhi: Who’s leading, who’s trailing

Reading Time: 3 minutes

As the early trends predict a victory for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, take a look at how the heavyweights are faring in the Delhi assembly polls.

>> Arvind Kejriwal

The current Delhi CM seems to be having no trouble in his own constituency of New Delhi. He’s well ahead of his Bharatiya Janata Party opponent.

>> Manish Sisodia

The Delhi deputy CM is ahead as of now from his constituency of Patparganj, but the lead is very slender – 74 votes.

>> Atishi

The AAP candidate, known for her work in the educational sector, is trailing as of now from the Kalkaji constituency. BJP’s Dharambir Singh is leading currently.

>> Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga

Delhi BJP candidate Tajinder Bagga is trailing from the Hari Nagar assembly seat as early trends have begun to pour in. Bagga, a Delhi BJP spokesperson is well known for his social media presence and campaigns. He is facing off against AAP’s Rajkumari Dhillon.

>> Alka Lamba

Congress’s Alka Lamba is trailing in the Chandni Chowk seat while AAP’s Parlad Singh Sawhney was ahead of her. Congress’ Alka Lamba is contesting against AAP’s Parlad Singh Sawhney, BJP’s Suman Kumar Gupta, BSP’s Sudesh and others. Lamba was earlier with AAP and was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly from Chandni Chowk in 2015 polls. Before AAP, Lamba had been with the Congress for over 20 years. In 2019, she decided to return to Congress to contest the assembly polls from the party.

>> Raghav Chadha

The victory for the AAP candidate seems to be a shoe-in as he leads by a huge margin from the Rajinder Nagar constituency. While this is Raghav Chadha’s first assembly election, he had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 general elections from South Delhi. Chadha sought votes in the constituency as someone who has been brought up in the area.

>> Kapil Mishra

Kapil Mishra, a former Aam Aadmi Party leader who broke away and joined the BJP with a vow to defeat Arvind Kejriwal’s party is leading from Model Town constituency in north Delhi with a thin margin against Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of AAP, who had won the seat in 2015. Congress’s Akanksha Ola is in the third position as of now.
