The figure is not expected to change much but the jobless population is increasing due to sluggish economies. According to the report, in the year 2020, the number of registered unemployed will increase by 25 lakh to 19.05 crore. In 2019, this figure was 18.80 crore.
It is difficult to get a good life through work: ILO chief
The report further states that there are about 28.5 crore people in the world who do not have enough employment. That is, these people do not get as much work as they want. These include people who have stopped searching for employment. In total there are 47.3 million people who are completely unemployed or have a shortage of work. This figure is 13% of the worldwide workforce.
Increased performance due to discrimination in work opportunities
Guy Rider, head of the International Labor Organization, said that crores of people in the world do different kinds of work. But in the present situation, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to improve their standard of living through work. He said that discrimination related to work and thinking of not giving opportunities to some sections is making the situation more serious. He also said that there is a lack of good jobs behind the rise in protests across the world.
60% of the workforce is serving the unorganized sector
The report said that 60% of the world’s workforce is currently working in the unorganized sector. They neither get fair pay nor do social security related schemes reach them. According to the report, currently, 63 million working people of the world are living in an environment of poverty. His daily earnings are less than $ 3.2 (about 228 rupees). Location, gender, and age are the major factors behind income inequality.
Expenditure on salary and allowances decreased by 3% in 14 years, youth are not in good condition
According to the ILO report, spending on salary, wages or perks of the workforce has decreased in countries around the world. From 2004 to 2017, it has decreased by 3%. In 2004, this expenditure was 54%. In 2017, it stood at 51%. The report said that 26.7 crore youths aged between 15 and 24 years of age are very weak. They are neither getting good education nor training opportunities. So they do not have any kind of employment.
