Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai Awarded $ 242 Million Package

Sundar Pichai (47) received a package of $242 million (Rs 1718 crore) after becoming the CEO of Alphabet. This includes basic salaries of $20 million (Rs 14.2 crore) and $24 million (Rs 1704 crore) annually. Pichai’s new salary package will apply from 1 January. However, out of $24 million, the $120 million stock award will be received in quarterly installments. They will base the rest of the annual performance, ie if all the targets are met by Pichai, then shares will be available in three years. Alphabet gave this information on Friday.

On December 4, they announced Pichai to be CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet.

In 2018, Pichai received a total salary of 19 million dollars (135 crore rupees). It had $6.5 million (Rs 4.6 crore) basic salary. Pichai refused to take the stock award last year, saying that the salary was enough. The Rs 1704 crore stock award is the highest ever received by an official of Google and Alphabet.

Apple CEO Tim Cook received a total salary of $141 million (Rs 957 crore) last year. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s salary increased 66% last year. He received a compensation of $4.29 million (Rs 306.43 crore) in the last financial year (2018-19). It was mostly in the form of a stock award. The basic salary was 2.3 million dollars. Nadella’s package was $ 2.58 million (Rs 184.28 crore) in 2017-18. Larry Page, the former CEO of Alphabet, and Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, took a notional salary of just $1-1 last year.
