Is sluggishness away from the auto sector? The latest figures of the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, and Mahindra & Mahindra are responding positively. Total sales of Maruti Suzuki India increased by 4.5 percent to 1,53,435 units in October from the previous year, while sales increased by 25.4% as compared to September 2019.
The company gave this information on Friday. In the same month a year ago, the company had sold 1,46,766 vehicles, while in September 2019 it had sold 1.22 lakh vehicles. Bajaj Auto sales were down 9% year-on-year, but the company’s sales increased 15% over September 2019. The festive season is also one of the reasons for the rise in the sale of vehicles.
After Slowdown Maruti Suzuki and Bajaj Auto sales up
Maruti Suzuki said in a statement that its sales in the domestic market also increased by 4.5 percent to 1,44,277 units in October this year. The figure stood at 1,38,100 vehicles in October 2018. Sales of the company’s mini cars, including Alto, Wagon R and S-Preso, declined by 13.1 percent to 28,537 vehicles during this period. A year earlier in October, the figure stood at 32,835 units.
Similarly, the company’s sales in the compact vehicle segment including Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire increased by 15.9 percent to 75,094 units from 64,789 units in October 2018. Sales of the company’s mid-size sedan car Ciaz decreased by 39.1 percent to 2,371 units. In the same month last year, it sold 3,892 Ciaz cars.
Sales of utility vehicles Vitara Brezza, S Cross and Ertiga increased to 23,108 units from 20,764 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s exports grew 5.7 percent to 9,158 units from 8,666 vehicles in October a year earlier.
Bajaj Auto sales also rise
Total sales of Bajaj Auto declined by 9% to 4.63 lakh units in October. The company sold 5.06 lakh vehicles in October last year. When compared on a month-on-month basis, Bajaj Auto’s sales grew by 15.2 percent to 4.63 lakh units. The company sold 4.02 lakh vehicles in September.
Mahindra sales also increased on a monthly basis
Mahindra & Mahindra’s vehicle sales fell 11% to 51,896 units from October last year, as compared to September 2019. In October 2018, the company sold 58,416 vehicles, while in September 2019, the company was able to sell only 43,343 vehicles.
MG Motor sold 3,536 SUV Hector
MG Motor India retails 3,536 units of SUV Hector in October. The company gave this information in a statement on Friday. MG Motor said in a statement that this is the company’s first model, which was introduced in June this year. 38,000 units of Hector have been booked. The company closed the booking in July after receiving 21,000 units of bookings. The company has resumed booking Hector from 29 September. She plans to increase production.
Escort tractors sales up 1.6 percent
Tractor sales of agricultural equipment manufacturer Escort Ltd rose 1.6 percent to 13,353 units in October. The company gave this information on Friday. It sold 13,140 tractors in the same period a year ago. Escort Limited told the stock markets that its tractor sales in the domestic market rose 1.3 percent to 13,034 units in October this year. In October 2018, it sold 12,867 tractors.
