About 2200 employees laid off from job level 6 (JL6) under this retrenchment. The company has a total of 30,092 employees in the JL6, JL7 and JL8 bands. Sources told our affiliate newspaper Times of India, the company will lay off 2-5 percent of its workforce at JL 3 and below.

Sources said that these layoffs are happening in a focused and targeted manner. Previously the company trimmed on the basis of performance, but this time the case is different and more people will be shown the way out.
“There is a need for complex skill staff in the industry at present and less staffing for traditional support services as a lot of work is being done by automation,” said Phil Float, CEO of HFS Research in the US.
