Sanjay Gulati dies after protesting against the PMC Bank Scam

Mumbai’s Sanjay Gulati, who was protesting against the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) bank scam, died of a heart attack on Monday. According to the information, Gulati and his family had about 90 lakh rupees deposited in the bank. Sanjay was a resident of Taraporevala Gardens in the Oshiwara area. They survive him by his wife and two children.

“They used to work with Jet Airways,” said Yatindra Pal, secretary of Sanjay’s society. Previously Sanjay lost his job and now his savings are also confiscated in the bank. He only had thyroid problems. On Monday, Sanjay joined a protest by the depositors. Many protesters were angry that money was stuck in the bank. At around 3.30 in the afternoon, Sanjay returned from there and fell asleep. Around 4.45 pm, he asked his wife to serve food. He fell while he was eating. ”

Pal said Sanjay’s wife was alone in the house. They called me. We took Sanjay to Kokilaben Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. I called the police from the hospital itself. Sanjay’s parents live in Bengaluru.

What is PMC bank scam?

Last month, the bank imposed a 6-month ban on PMC because of a loan scam in the bank and fixed the withdrawal limit for customers at Rs 1000. Later they increased this limit to 10 thousand and then 25 thousand and on Monday, 40 thousand rupees. Thousands of account holders’ money has been stuck in the bank because of the scam. Account-holders have been showing continuously against the RBI order.
