‘We (Shefali and I) really got along but we never crossed the line by getting inside the same blanket.’
‘We tried to make a point that two people can like each other without showing any PDA and being an embarrassment to the family.’
The 13th season of Bigg Boss saw a surprise mid-week eviction.
Siddhartha Dey, who was interestingly one of the writers of show’s first season, entered as a contestant this time.
He has written quite a few reality shows and even tours, like Salman Khan’s Dabangg concerts.
He wanted to represent writers who help celebrities perform on screen, and that’s why he came on the show.
Initially, he would have fun with Shehnaz Gill and teach her how to dance!
As time passed, Siddhartha found a close friend in Shefali Bagga.
While he bonded with Paras Chhabra and Rashami Desai, he had differences with Arti Singh and Siddharth Shukla.
‘Siddharth broke the bench and threw mud with so much force that Mahira Sharma and Devoleena Bhattacharjee were hurt. I didn’t know this was a violent show,” he tells KhabriBaba.com Contributor Rajul Hegde.
You got evicted and can go home right on time for Diwali. Happy or disappointed?
I don’t think anyone danced like me during eviction.
Since it was a midnight eviction, I reached home around 4.30 am.
As soon I went home, I danced on the sofa and the dining table and then jumped on my bed for 20 minutes, without any music.
Because of some people in the house, I starting thinking that I should get out. They tried to make my journey slightly nightmarish.
Thankfully, I had positivity.
Except for a couple of tasks, I was happy.
I could say it was a happy journey but it could have been better if people were sensitive and humane.
Since you are a writer, viewers expected witty one-liners but that didn’t happen. Instead, you were pulled up by Salman Khan for using inappropriate language.
You should have an audience, who can understand you.
But the housemates were there just to fight.
I have heard people say that unpleasant people come on this show and change themselves when they get out.
But here, it was the opposite. They did not want to change.
Even a small issue was blown out of proportion.
Thank God, I am out of the mad house!
You were the weakest contestant during the tasks.
I had no aggression towards anyone, at least until two tasks.
Only when I was tortured beyond a certain point, I got angry.
Normally, people apply bleach for 10-15 minutes but here, during the task, they kept the bleach on my neck for eight-nine hours!
It burnt my back!
And then, they applied chilli powder for seven-eight hours.
Do you regret making remarks against Arti and Shehnaz?
I regret making such comments.
I would like to explain why I said that and in what context.
Actually, I overheard their plan of action for the task, so to save (myself) from that, I said certain things.
I am sorry if I hurt them.
Shehnaaz and I are good friends.
What I meant was that people who she considered friends did not support her during the tasks.
But I used an inappropriate word ‘rejected’ and I felt really awful after I said it.
Do you feel Shehnaz was intentionally targeting you, knowing that she would get a reaction?
Yes. She had admitted during the Weekend Ka Vaar that she had targeted me for two weeks and from then on, she shifted to Paras’ side.
She would do tandav everyday and then ask me why I wasn’t talking to her.
But I have never disliked her. She is my friend.
Did you get along with Shefali? Was she trying to be friendly with you to save herself from eviction?
No, it was genuine.
We really got along but we never crossed the line by getting inside the same blanket and getting cosy or getting into the pool together.
We tried to make a point that two people can like each other without showing any PDA and being an embarrassment to the family.
We would sit and chat for long hours and she would always say, ‘Meri ankhe aap hi ko dundonthi hai.’
We really had a good equation.
Do you think Siddharth Shukla’s aggressive behaviour on the show was being ignored?
I don’t know how much has been shown on TV but he has been very aggressive during the tasks.
He broke a bench and threw mud with so much force that Mahira Sharma and Devoleena Bhattacharjee were hurt.
I didn’t know this was a violent show.
They should stop this before it becomes worse.
We should behave like human beings, not like animals. This show is not aired on Animal Planet.
So who is playing the game well?
Siddharth is the strong contestant.
Shefali, Devoleena, Mahira and Rashami as well.
Rashami cried when I was leaving the house.
