Hema Malini, who represents Mathura in the Lok Sabha, had to skip the last parliamentary session.
“I wanted to go, but my daughters (Esha and Ahana) would hear none of it,” she tells Subhash K Jha.
“They wouldn’t listen to my arguments. After a certain age, the children become like your parents.”
The Dream Girl, who does not mince words, says she is fed up of being confined to her home in Mumbai.
“Enough is enough! How long can the nation hold its breath for coronavirus to go away?”
“For someone like me, who is constantly travelling in normal times, being tied down to one place is unbearable,” she says.
She especially misses visiting her constituency.
“I miss the people of Mathura, and I know they miss me. The first thing I’ll do is visit my constituency once I am able to travel,” she says.
Hemaji grumbles that she has not met her husband Dharmendra ever since the lockdown began in March.
“He is happily isolated at his farmhouse, doing gardening, listening to old Hindi songs and writing Urdu poetry,” she says.
How many poems has Dharamji written for Hemaji?
This once elicits a hearty laugh.
“Not one. Woh kehte hai na, ghar ki murgi daal baraabar,” she says.
