Bihar polls: Big winners and losers

Here’s how the biggies fared in Bihar elections 2020. 

Tej Pratap Yadav

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav has won the Hasanpur seat by 21,139 votes. 

Tejashwi Yadav

The face of the Mahagathbandhan Tejaswhi Yadav won his Raghopur seat by a margin of over 38,000 votes. He defeated BJP’s Satish Kumar by a margin of 38,174 votes. 

Jitan Ram Manjhi

Hindustan Awami Morcha-Secular president Jitan Ram Manjhi has won the Imamganj seat by a margin of 16,034 votes. His closest rival in the seat was Uday Narain Choudhary of the RJD.

Luv Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha’s son, who contested on a Congress ticket, lost the Bankipur constituency to BJP’s Nitin Nabin by 39,036 votes. 

Shreyasi Singh

Ace shooter Shreyasi Singh made a successful electoral debut on a BJP ticket, wresting the Jamui assembly seat from sitting RJD MLA Vijay Prakash. Singh, who is a Commonwealth Games gold medallist shooter, defeated Prakash by a staggering margin of more than 41,000 votes. She polled 79,156 votes, while Prakash, who has represented the seat more than once, bagged only 38,147.

Pappu Yadav

Prominent politician from Bihar Pappu Yadav of the Jan Adhikar Party – Loktantrik has lost from Madhepura. Chandra Shekhar of RJD has won the seat with 79,839 votes. Nikhil Mandal, of the JD-U, the grandson of former chief minister and chairman of Mandal Commission recommendations report on job reservations, came second with 64,767. Pappu Yadav settled for third spot with 26,462 votes.  

Subhashini 

Sharad Yadav’s daughter and Congress candidate Subhashini has lost the Bihariganj seat by a margin of 18,711 votes. JD-U’s Niranjan Kumar Mehta has won the seat.
