Kashmiri Officer Helps Civil Service Aspirants With Free Video Lectures in the Valley

Reading Time: 3 minutes

New Delhi: A Kashmiri officer from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district has started collecting video lectures for poor and needy students who are aspiring to qualify civil services, local media reported.

Irfan Rashid currently works as public relations officer (PRO) at Power System Operation Corporation under the Ministry of Power. He is a resident of Charari Shareef town in Budgam district.

Rashid collected video lectures of UPSC and state civil service competitive examinations from Delhi and Mumbai and is offering them free of cost to the needy students.

Speaking with Khabri Baba, Rashid said, “The problem that Kashmiri students face today is low internet speed, otherwise most of the material is already available online. With this initiative, I am trying to bridge this gap by offering downloaded videos/material to aspiring students, who live in the remotest corners of the valley, via their pen drives.”

Rashid has also requested all the NGOs, civil societies, educational institutions, social activists and other responsible persons to take the video lectures from him and help them reach to the remotest corners in the Valley.

“Initially, I had asked a few students to connect with me personally to collect the videos. Soon after that, my post was shared in a few student groups, following which I continued to receive many messages from students, who asked me to share the video lectures with them, which was impossible for me to do single-handedly,” Rashid said.

According to him, a Srinagar-based NGO came forward to help him with this mission. He has further requested to all interested parties to come forward and help out students in this regard.
