Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon and the world’s richest has announced a donation of $ 10 billion (71 thousand 419 crore rupees) to combat climate change. This amount is 7.7% of their net worth. Bezos has a net worth of 130 billion dollars (9 lakh 28 thousand 444 crore rupees). On Monday, Bezos told via Instagram post that he will launch the Bezos Earth Fund.

Bezos wrote- “Today, I am pleased to launch the Bezos Earth Fund. Climate change is a major threat to Earth. I want to work on yet more ways to fight climate change and new ways to deal with it. This initiative will unite everyone at companies, countries, global organizations and also at the individual level. ”
Employees put pressure on Bezos
Seeing the challenge of climate change, Amazon employees pressured Bezos to take initiatives such as creating funds. The signature campaign was launched in January by more than 350 employees of the company. It said that by 2030, carbon emissions should be zero. In September, Bezos said that by 2040, the company aims to make carbon neutral. 100% renewable energy use and 1 lakh electric vehicles will be purchased by 2030.
