Former President Pranab Mukherjee said on Wednesday that I am not worried about the slow growth in the gross domestic product (GDP). Whatever things are happening, which will have an impact on the economy. He said that today public sector banks need capital and there is nothing wrong with this.

Mukherjee attended an event at the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata on Wednesday. He said that banks had shown strength during the 2008 economic crisis. I was then the Finance Minister. No public sector bank had approached me for the money then.

The former president also said that dialogue in a democracy is very important to solve problems. It is also necessary to maintain the authenticity of the data as fact. It is not fair to tamper with it. He said, “Sometimes I read in newspapers that when data questioned, I feel sad. The Planning Commission has played an important role in the development of the country’s economy. I happy that some work still being done by NITI Aayog. ”

Regarding the Indian banking system, he said that banks had shown strength during the 2008 economic crisis. She said that I was the finance minister at that time and no bank had approached me for the money. There is a huge need for capital in banks and there is nothing wrong with that. Apart from this, the former President also commented on political issues and said that dialogue very important in a democracy.

He said, “Dialogue is important.” Mukherjee said that the authenticity of data also very important in a democracy. He said that there should be no tampering. Mukherjee said that if it does not happen then it has the opposite effect. Regarding the Planning Commission’s significant contribution to the country’s economy, he said that I am happy that NITI Aayog is also working to advance some of its policies.
