Sensex reaches all time high of 40434, 270 point increase

  • Vedanta shares rise 4.5%, Tata Steel gains 4.2%
  • Yes Bank shares fall 4%, Infosys drops 1%

The stock market opened higher on the first trading day of the week. The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex has maintained a level above 40 thousand.

Sensex opened 128.82 points up at 40,293.85 and Nifty climbed 38 points to open at 11,928.90. In early trade itself, the Sensex touched a high of 40,434 points and lost 40,267.30 points.

The Sensex was trading around 40,345 and the Nifty was trading at 11,959.90 at 9.50 am.

Among the Sensex stocks that were seen to be trading in early trade are Vedanta, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and SBI. Shares of Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, Power Grid and Hindustan Unilever were the biggest losers.

Among the Nifty stocks that saw an upsurge in initial trading, Hindalco, Infratel, Vedanta, Tata Steel, and JSW are at the forefront. The shares of Zee Limited, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Titan, and ITC were at the forefront of the falling stocks.
