The salary of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella increased by 66% in a year. Satya Nadella received a total compensation of $4.29 million (Rs 306.43 crore) in the financial year ended June 30. It is mostly in the form of a stock award. It received $258 million (Rs 184.28 crore) in the last financial year. The company gave this information in its annual report on Wednesday. Microsoft’s fiscal year is from 1 July to 30 June.
Nadella received $8.43 million compensation in 2014
The board increased Nadella’s compensation because of business targets and the company’s share price rising. However, this is almost half compared to the 2014 compensation. That year, Nadella received $8.43 million.
Microsoft’s independent directors, reviewing stock compensation, cited Nadella’s strategic leadership — strengthening trust with customers, changing company practices, new technology and successful entry and expansion into new markets.

Microsoft said that under the leadership of Nadella, the company’s market cap increased by $509 billion in the last 5 years. The total shareholder returns of the company increased by 97% during this period. Nadella’s income also increased with this.
