Bhubaneswar: Petrol and Diesel prices rose again on Monday following a rapid rise in international rates led by strong global demand. While the petrol prices are now hovering over four-year peak in the country, the diesel price is at an all-time high.

The prices of non-branded petrol was raised by 10-11 paise per litre in different metro cities today while diesel prices were increased by 11-12 paise.

In Delhi, the petrol prices have reached Rs 73.73 a litre and diesel prices have touched Rs 64.58 per litre.

The diesel prices in Bhubaneswar are more than Delhi. With today’s increase, the diesel sells at Rs 69.35 per litre in Bhubaneswar while one litre petrol costs Rs 72.62.

People expressed their annoyance over the oil price hike and requested the Union Government to take steps to curb the hike of oil price.

“The oil price hike has been affecting us, especially to the middle class people, since long. Now again the price of petrol and diesel has increased. It has become a serious matter of concern for us. I now feel not to ride the vehicle anymore,” said Rahul Patnaik, a resident of Bhubaneswar.
